As a prize supplier I can’t actually enter the Zero Waste competition, but that doesn’t stop me pledging!
I’m going to learn to knit…..

Reduce your rubbish and win prizes! with MyZeroWaste.com. It’s simple - go over there and pledge to do something, there’s a list and you’ll need to feedback on how it went after you do it, so no cheating!

Janey Lee Grace was on BBC London early this morning - before sane people are even awake!
You can listen again on the BBC London site - she’s on The Breakfast Show about 45 mins in and there’s around 15 mins of credit crunch tips including soap nuts! YAY!

My potatoes got blight this year which means I can’t compost the tops of the plants, peelings or any other bits I cut off. Apparently you shouldn’t really compost spud bits anyway, unless you have a long term hot compost bin or heap. Which I don’t.

Ethics Trading is expanding!
We’ve had a shop at Climate mall where all our top selling products are listed for a while now and custom is growing. I keep adding new stock onto there so do keep wandering back for a browse.
ClimateMall is an online shopping centre focussed on ethical and green businesses. It’s a one stop shop where you can find a number of retailers, but all sharing the green, ethical and fair trade vision! If you’re a customer then please do wander along for a browse, if you’re a fellow entrepeneur who shares our priorities then please do wander along too, there are plenty of free shops going on there and it’s a great place to be.
Also for fellow business owners - I found Quassia recently. If you want to network on Quassia then there’s a sign up button on my page (link above) I look forward to seeing you either on Quassia or in Climate Mall.

Everything there - lettuce, peas, carrots, chard - all started life as a seed sown in a pot made with the Paper Potter.

Soap grows on trees! Anyone who has been reading here for any length of time or known me on forums, or even in real life, will know this already. So to manufacture soap nuts you need some land, a tree or several and a person able to harcest the berries when they dry. That’d be no waste going to landfill from the production process then.

My Mum has Emphysema, I think I may have blogged about it before. It’s one illness in a group all under the umbrella term of COPD (Chronic, Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and it’s nasty, they all are. But typically, instead of sitting back and letting the illness rule her life, Mum has stepped up and taken control. She lives with Emphysema, it doesn’t rule her life and she does everything she can to raise both awareness and money for the British Lung Foundation through Breathe Easy groups - Her local one is the Neath Valley group.
In April they did a sponsored Abseil…..

The complementary flip side of trading ethically has to be consuming ethically doesn’t it? This week I’ve taken a leaf out of the Myzerowaste family. They’re going for a target of throwing NOTHING away. Yes, nothing.

Those of you that know me from various places as well as in real life will know that I just love my garden. So it was only natural that I took Ethics Trading into the garden too.
