Everything there - lettuce, peas, carrots, chard - all started life as a seed sown in a pot made with the Paper Potter.
The Paper potter is a fabulous little thing, I’ve blogged about it before and I still love it. Make as many little pots as you need from your own paper recycling, newspaper is best, fill them with compost and sow your seeds. Failure is ok because if a pot fails to germinate the whole thing can go in the compost bin.
But they don’t often fail.
Then when the seedlings are threatening to burst out of the sides of the pot you plant the WHOLE THING in the ground, protecting those delicate roots that seedlings have.
They’re so easy the kids can make the pots, and then sow their own seeds too.
Just look at the results!

Hi Mandy,
Thanks for dropping in.
First you get yourself a paper potter (http://www.ethicstrading.com/garden.html) and a tabloid sized newspaper and cut a sheet into strips as detailed in the instructions that come with the potter. Then you wind the strip round the top half of the potter and twist the ends into the base, securing them with pressure from the base.
It’s really easy and full instructions are included with each paper potter.
